Funding promising programs that advance racial equity, redemption after incarceration, and community restoration.
For too long we have avoided hard conversations – the impact of racism on mass incarceration; how we can help people coming out of prison succeed when they return home; and how to best support communities that have been left hanging in the balance in our nation’s failed criminal justice experiment.
Race, Redemption, and Restoration is a time-bound initiative to address these issues and fund promising programs advancing racial equity, redemption after incarceration, and community restoration. The initiative is designed to be a catalyst to multiply successful efforts and build a movement across the country.
Public Welfare Foundation will award a limited number of grants focusing on race, redemption and restoration. Organizations interested in applying for a grant can submit a Letter of Interest to the Foundation here
The Special Opportunities Program supports projects reflecting the Foundation’s mission and underlying values, including its longstanding commitment to racial equity and justice. These are one-time only grants that are especially timely and compelling. At times, these grants serve as a laboratory for new ideas. To apply for a grant under the Special Opportunities Program, please submit a Letter of Inquiry.
